17p del + gVH Mutation Analysis

This panel consists of 17p deletion & IgVh mutation. Screening for 17p deletion in Multiple Myeloma cases aids management decisions & directs these high-risk patients toward alternative therapies. This deletion has also been detected in Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL) & is associated with poor prognosis. A genetic mutation changes the DNA sequence and is permanent. Sometimes these mutations are beneficial. The IgVH gene in your body can undergo a mutation in certain cancers like Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia (CLL). CLL is a very common type of blood & bone marrow cancer that affects older adults. A mutated IgVH gene in CLL indicates a good outcome and the disease responds well to treatment. An unmutated IgVH gene in CLL is associated with poor outcomes. This assay is useful to provide an estimate of the prognosis (aggressiveness of disease) of B-cell Chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) and to help evaluate treatment options.
