Pan-Fungal PCR in New Delhi

Pan-Fungal PCR test is for the rapid qualitative detection of all medically necessary fungi in the blood sample. This is a conventional PCR-based test. This PCR test can detect the presence of fungi in sterile site samples like blood/plasma/serum aids in reaching a diagnosis and enables starting anti-fungal therapy. Test results mention if fungal species are detected or not detected in the sample. This test does not provide the name of the fungal species detected in the sample. In rare conditions, the results could also be inconclusive.  This test can help doctors determine if the patient has a fungal infection and plan the treatment accordingly. The ubiquitous presence of the ITS (internal transcribed spacer) gene in fungi offers the possibility of detecting a wide range of fungi in a single PCR. This PCR has a clinical utility in diagnosing Invasive fungal diseases (IFDs) which are an emerging clinical dilemma in critically ill patients. Invasive candidiasis and invasive aspergillosis are the most common IFDs diagnosed in immunocompromised patients and the gold standard for it is culture which is less sensitive and time-consuming.
