Benefits of Twinrab Injection

Prophylaxis of Rabies
Rabies is a serious disease caused by the rabies virus, which causes inflammation of the brain. It is transmitted through the saliva of infected animals. Twinrab 600IU Injection is indicated for post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent rabies infection in people who have been exposed to the virus. It is given in combination with the rabies vaccine. This medicine neutralizes the virus, preventing its entry into nerve cells and subsequent spread to the central nervous system. By binding to different parts of the virus, this combination medicine provides a comprehensive defense. It enhances the prevention of rabies infection after exposure, particularly in situations where traditional vaccination might not provide immediate protection.

How Twinrab Injection works

Rabies is a viral infection caused by the rabies virus which primarily affects the nervous system. Once the virus enters the body through a bite from an infected animal, it travels along nerve fibers to the central nervous system, including the brain. There, it can cause severe neurological symptoms and, ultimately, death if left untreated. Twinrab 600IU Injection contains two antibodies: docaravimab and miromavimab. These antibodies bind to the rabies virus and prevent it from entering and infecting nerve cells and other cells in the body. This interruption of the virus's ability to replicate and spread within the body is crucial for halting the progression of rabies infection.

Quick tips

  • All cases of rabies exposure should be treated immediately for the prevention of clinical symptoms and death.
  • Twinrab 600IU Injection is prescribed for post-exposure risk prevention after contact with an infected animal or an animal suspected to have rabies infection.
  • No skin sensitivity test is required.
  • Twinrab 600IU Injection should be given by a trained healthcare professional.
  • Follow the recommended dosing schedule.
