Product introduction
Thiobel Gel may be used 2 to 4 times a day on the affected area depending on the severity of your condition. It should be applied slowly and evenly to the skin until it is rubbed in. Do not use it too often and do not cover the treated area with a bandage or plaster.
It is a safe medicine with few side effects, but you may get a skin rash, itching, reddening, or burning of the skin. Occasionally, a skin rash may be a sign of a severe allergic reaction. Tell your doctor straight away if you get a rash with blistering. How Thiobel Gel works
Thiobel Gel is a combination of five medicines : Diclofenac Diethylamine, Thiocolchicoside, Linseed Oil, Methyl Salicylate, and Menthol. Diclofenac diethylamine and Methyl Salicylate are non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which work by blocking the release of chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm and to improve pain and movement of muscles. Linseed Oil decreases swelling through its anti-inflammatory properties. Menthol produces a cooling effect on the skin. Menthol dilates the blood vessels causing a sensation of coldness, followed by an analgesic effect. Menthol also acts as a penetration enhancer, increasing the penetration of drugs when applied on the skin, to give a faster onset of action.
Quick tips
- Before applying the gel, make sure your hands and the affected area of the skin are clean and dry. Wash your hands thoroughly after application.
- If you have sensitive skin or a history of allergies, perform a patch test by applying a small amount of the gel to a small area of skin first to check for any adverse reaction.
- After applying the gel, gently massage it into the skin. This can help improve absorption and effectiveness. Always read and follow the instructions provided with the gel carefully.
- Avoid contact with eyes, mouth, open wounds, or mucous membranes.
