Safeguard-SR Tablet should not be taken by people who are pregnant, have had coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) heart surgery, have an active stomach, or intestinal bleeding, have asthma, or allergic reactions triggered by aspirin, or other NSAIDs, or are allergic to diclofenac, misoprostol, or ingredients in the medicine. These conditions can lead to serious and potentially life-threatening reactions.
One of the medicines present in Safeguard-SR Tablet, misoprostol, can cause miscarriage, severe uterine bleeding, premature birth, or birth defects, which is why this medicine must never be used during pregnancy or given to someone who might be pregnant. Women must be fully informed about this risk.
Safeguard-SR Tablet can cause bleeding, ulcers, or tears in the stomach or intestines, which may occur suddenly without warning symptoms. Elderly patients and those with a past ulcer or GI bleeding are at higher risk, even with the protective effect of misoprostol.
One of the medicines present in Safeguard-SR Tablet, diclofenac, can cause kidney problems (especially in people with dehydration, heart failure, or existing kidney disease), and can also cause liver damage. Doctors may stop the medicine if liver tests become abnormal or symptoms suggest liver disease.
While taking Safeguard-SR Tablet, you should seek urgent medical help if you notice chest pain, weakness on one side, trouble speaking, black or bloody stools, vomiting blood, severe stomach pain, yellowing of the eyes/skin, swelling, rapid weight gain, reduced urine output, or difficulty breathing, or allergic-type reactions. These may be signs of serious complications requiring immediate care.
Yes. People who have aspirin-sensitive asthma should not take Safeguard-SR Tablet, as it may cause dangerous breathing reactions. Even in non-aspirin-sensitive asthma, close monitoring is required.
