Frequently asked questions

Surgeons use Reliseal Kit on bleeding surfaces during surgery to improve hemostasis (help blood clot), support sutures, and act as a tissue glue for sealing or adhesion when standard techniques alone are not sufficient.
Reliseal Kit is prepared and applied by trained surgeons in the operating room directly onto the tissue surface. It is for epilesional use only (on the wound surface), not into a vein or artery.
Individuals should not receive Reliseal Kit if they have a known allergy to any component (human fibrinogen, human factor XIII, bovine aprotinin, thrombin, calcium chloride) or excipients, or if there is arterial or strong venous bleeding where this medicine is not appropriate. It must never be injected into a blood vessel.
Avoid injecting Reliseal Kit into a blood vessel, as this can cause life‑threatening clots and widespread clotting (DIC). Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, may occur—especially in those previously exposed due to the presence of bovine aprotinin, so prior use should be recorded. Care should also be taken to protect areas outside the target site to prevent unwanted tissue adhesion.
Seek urgent medical help if you experience signs of serious side effects of Reliseal Kit, such as severe allergic reaction, including rash, hives, chest tightness, wheezing, swelling of the face or tongue, or sudden breathing difficulty, as these may lead to anaphylactic shock. After endoscopic treatment for GI bleeding, new stomach pain, nausea, or vomiting within 1 to 3 days may indicate a wall hematoma or, rarely, pancreatitis and should be checked immediately. Also, accidental injection into a blood vessel can cause serious blood clots and requires emergency care.
Reliseal Kit remains in place and is naturally broken down by the body as healing advances. Unlike some medicines or agents, it is not routinely removed. Report any unusual allergic symptoms or severe abdominal pain after endoscopic GI treatment promptly to the surgical team.
