How to use Povimed Ointment

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

How Povimed Ointment works

Povimed Ointment is a combination of three medicines: Povidone Iodine, Tinidazole Topical and Zinc Sulfate. Povidone Iodine is an antiseptic applied on skin which is infected or is likely to get infected. It slowly releases iodine which kills or prevents the growth of infectious microorganisms. Tinidazole Topical is an antibiotic which kills bacteria and other infectious microorganisms by damaging the DNA. Zinc Sulfate has astringent and antiseptic action.

Liver
Povimed Ointment is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Povimed Ointment may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
