Frequently asked questions

Povifate A Ointment is used to help manage wound infections and support the healing of damaged skin. It may be used for cuts, abrasions, ulcers, infected wounds, and other skin injuries where there is a risk of bacterial growth. By helping control infection and maintaining a healthier wound environment, it supports the natural healing process.
Povifate A Ointment contains Metronidazole, Povidone Iodine, and Aloe Vera. Metronidazole helps fight infection-causing microorganisms that may be present in wounds. Povidone Iodine acts as an antiseptic and helps prevent the growth and spread of bacteria and other microbes on the affected area. Aloe Vera helps soothe the skin and supports the healing process. Together, these ingredients help keep the wound clean and promote recovery.
Povifate A Ointment may be used on certain wounds when recommended by your doctor. However, deep wounds, large open wounds, severe burns, or heavily damaged skin should only be treated under medical supervision. Your doctor can determine whether this ointment is suitable for your condition.
Use Povifate A Ointment for the duration advised by your doctor. The length of treatment depends on the type and severity of the wound or skin infection. If the affected area does not improve or continues to worsen despite treatment, your doctor may reassess the condition and recommend further management.
Some individuals may experience mild skin irritation, redness, itching, burning, or discomfort at the application site. These effects are usually temporary and improve as the skin adjusts to treatment. If irritation becomes severe or persistent, inform your doctor.
Although uncommon, some people may develop an allergic reaction to one or more ingredients in Povifate A Ointment. Stop using the medicine and seek medical attention if you develop a rash, itching, redness, swelling, or severe skin irritation at the application site. Rarely, serious allergic reactions may occur, causing swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing. Seek immediate medical help if these symptoms occur.
Follow your doctor's instructions regarding wound dressings. In some cases, covering the treated area with a clean dressing may help protect the wound and keep it clean. However, not all wounds require bandaging, so it is best to follow the advice given for your specific condition.
Povifate A Ointment is meant for external use on the skin only. Avoid contact with the eyes, inside the nose, or mouth. If accidental contact occurs, rinse the affected area thoroughly with plenty of water. If irritation continues, contact your doctor.
The time taken to notice improvement can vary depending on the type and severity of the wound or infection. Some individuals may notice reduced redness, discharge, or discomfort within a few days. Continue using the medicine as prescribed by your doctor for the best results.
Your doctor may recommend Povifate A Ointment for minor cuts, scrapes, and other skin injuries where there is a risk of infection. Proper wound cleaning before application may help improve treatment outcomes.
Keeping the wound clean helps reduce the buildup of dirt, debris, and microorganisms that can delay healing. While Metronidazole and Povidone Iodine help control infection, maintaining good wound hygiene may support faster recovery.
Even if the wound appears to improve, continue using Povifate A Ointment for the duration advised by your doctor. Stopping treatment too early may allow the infection to return or delay complete healing.
