Pergoveris Injection

Product introduction

Pergoveris Injection is a medicine used to treat female infertility and male hypogonadism. It is used in women who have a problem in ovulation or are undergoing fertility treatment like in-vitro fertilization. In men, it helps in the production of sperm cells.

Pergoveris Injection is given as an injection under the supervision of a doctor. Your doctor or nurse will tell you the right way of injection administration, do not try to self-administer. It should be taken as your doctor's advice. The dose and how often you take it depends on what you are taking it for. Your doctor will decide how much you need to improve your symptoms. You should keep taking the medicine as long as it prescribed to you.

Headache, feeling thirsty, decreased urination, Nausea, Vomiting, and weight are some common side effects of this medicine.  If these bother you or appear serious, let your doctor know. There may be ways of reducing or preventing them.  The pregnant women and breastfeeding mother should have to avoid the use of this medicine. Your doctor should also know about all other medicines you are taking as many of these may make this medicine less effective or change the way it works.

FAQs

What is Pergoveris Injection? What is it used for?

Pergoveris Injection contains Follitropin alfa which is a type of Follicle Stimulating Hormone produced naturally by the body. It is used in women who are unable to ovulate. It works by stimulating the growth of follicles (which contain eggs) in the ovary. This helps in the release of a properly developed egg at the time of ovulation. It is also used in assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF), which help women to become pregnant. It may also be used in adult men who are infertile due to lack of certain hormones and inability to produce enough sperm cells.

How and in what dose should I take Pergoveris Injection?

Pergoveris Injection is an injection given subcutaneously (just under the skin). The dose and treatment duration depend on the ovarian response of the patient.

What if I miss a dose of Pergoveris Injection?

Ideally, you should try not to miss a dose of Pergoveris Injection. However, if you do miss a dose contact your doctor as soon as you remember.

Is Pergoveris Injection effective?

Pergoveris Injection is effective if used in the dose and duration advised by your doctor. Do not stop taking it even if you see improvement in your condition. If you stop using Pergoveris Injection too early, the symptoms may return or worsen.

What are the side effects of using Pergoveris Injection?

The most common side effect is a local site reaction at the injection site (pain, redness, swelling and irritation). The other common side effects associated with Pergoveris Injection include headache, ovarian cysts, abdominal pain or cramping, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and bloating. If any of these side effects bother you, please consult with your doctor. Also, it is important to know that the medicine may increase the likelihood of conditions like ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS), multiple pregnancy or miscarriage.
