Nirtran 5D 10gm/5gm Infusion is a combination of two medicines: Dextran 40 and Dextrose. They are derived from natural sources of sugar (glucose) and work by restoring blood plasma lost due to severe bleeding. Plasma is required to circulate red blood cells that deliver oxygen throughout the body.

Nirtran 5D 10gm/5gm Infusion is used to provide your body with extra water and carbohydrates (calories from sugar). It is used when a patient is not able to drink enough liquids or when additional fluids are needed after any surgery or trauma.
It should be used with caution in patients with diabetes, hypokalemia (low potassium), peripheral edema (swelling in the arms, feet, or legs)
or pulmonary edema (when fluids build up in the lungs).
