Uses of Netapride Ophthalmic Solution

Benefits of Netapride Ophthalmic Solution

Treatment of Glaucoma
Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, the health of which is vital for good vision. This damage is often caused by an abnormally high pressure in your eye. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness for people over the age of 60 or older. Netapride Eye Drop is used to reduce swelling and pressure inside the eye. This helps to prevent complications of glaucoma such as blindness and improves vision.
Treatment of Ocular hypertension
Ocular hypertension is a condition where the pressure inside the eye is higher than normal eye pressure. This may occur due to an injury, certain diseases or as an adverse effect of certain medications. Netapride Eye Drop reduces the fluid accumulation of the eye and facilitates draining of the fluid from the eyes. This helps treat ocular hypertension and prevents further damage or complications such as vision changes or even vision loss.

How to use Netapride Ophthalmic Solution

This medicine is for external use only. Take it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching it. Gently squeeze the dropper and place the medicine inside the lower eyelid. Wipe off extra liquid.

How Netapride Ophthalmic Solution works

Netapride Eye Drop works by blocking a specific enzyme called rho kinase, which helps relax the eye's drainage system (trabecular meshwork). This relaxation allows more fluid (aqueous humor) to flow out of the eye, reducing pressure inside the eye, which is beneficial for conditions like glaucoma. Aqueous humor is a transparent, water-like fluid in the eye that bathes and nourishes the lens and maintains pressure within the eye. Essentially, it helps the eye drain better, lowering the risk of damage to the optic nerve. This helps treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

Quick tips

  • Remove contact lenses before using Netapride Eye Drop, and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them.
  • Apply pressure on the corner of the eye (close to the nose) for about 1 minute immediately after putting in the medication. This will prevent the medication from draining out. Try not to blink or rub your eye.
  • When applying multiple eye medications, wait for at least 5-15 minutes before delivering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution of the medicine.

Frequently asked questions

Netapride Eye Drop is used to lower pressure inside the eye caused by glaucoma (high pressure that can damage the optic nerve of the eye) or ocular hypertension (high pressure in the eye). Reducing eye pressure helps prevent damage to the optic nerve and loss of vision.
You should seek your doctor’s advice right away if you experience any new eye problems (such as injury, infection, vision loss with or without eye pain), have eye surgery, or notice any eye reactions, especially redness or eyelid issues, while using Netapride Eye Drop.
Although the serious side effects of Netapride Eye Drop are rare, seek medical help if you notice severe eye pain, vision changes (like blurriness that doesn’t go away), and swelling or infection in or around the eyes. These could mean a serious reaction or another eye problem.
During Netapride Eye Drop treatment, you should not drive or operate machinery right after using Netapride Eye Drop if your vision is blurry. Don’t wear contact lenses immediately after using the drops. Wash your hands before and after each use. Lastly, inform your doctor if you notice any ongoing eye irritation or unusual symptoms.
Yes, Netapride Eye Drop is used only to treat open-angle glaucoma (a condition where the drainage angle remains open but fluid buildup increases eye pressure), not angle-closure glaucoma (where the drainage angle becomes blocked). Both conditions are different and require tailored treatment approaches.
Do not use Netapride Eye Drop more than twice a day, as it is not well tolerated and is not recommended. The recommended dosage is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening. If you miss a dose, continue with the next scheduled dose in the evening.
After opening the Netapride Eye Drop bottle, you should store it at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees Celsius for up to 6 weeks. If you are carrying Netapride Eye Drop, make sure the temperature is maintained not exceeding 40 degrees Celcius for only up to 14 days.
