How Nebracin LP Eye Drop works

Nebracin LP Eye Drop is a combination of two medicines: Loteprednol etabonate and Tobramycin. Loteprednol etabonate is a steroid that blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye red, swollen, and itchy. Tobramycin is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth in the eye by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Frequently asked questions

Wash your hands before use. Tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid, and apply the prescribed number of Nebracin LP Eye Drop. Avoid touching the dropper tip to any surface to prevent contamination. Wait 5-10 minutes before using other eye medications if prescribed.
You should not use Nebracin LP Eye Drop if you have viral eye infections such as those caused by herpes simplex or chickenpox or if you have fungal eye infections. It is also important to avoid using Nebracin LP Eye Drop if you are allergic to steroids, tobramycin, or any of the other ingredients in the formulation.
The usual dosing for Nebracin LP Eye Drop is one to two drops in the affected eye or eyes every four to six hours. However, you should always follow your doctor's specific instructions, as they may recommend more frequent use at the beginning of treatment and a gradual reduction as your symptoms improve.
The serious side effects of Nebracin LP Eye Drop are high eye pressure (can cause glaucoma), cataracts (cloudy vision), worsening infections (if steroids mask symptoms), and eye pain, vision changes, or severe redness (could signal a serious problem). Reach out to your prescribing doctor immediately if you experience any of these side effects.
The exact time Nebracin LP Eye Drop takes to show results is not known. However, you may notice improvement in symptoms like redness and discomfort within a few days of Nebracin LP Eye Drop use. However, full resolution of infection and inflammation may take several weeks. It’s important to continue using the medication for the full prescribed duration, even if your symptoms improve sooner.
Yes, using Nebracin LP Eye Drop for a prolonged period without medical supervision can increase the risk of serious eye issues like raised intraocular pressure (glaucoma), cataracts, and delayed wound healing. This is why it should only be used for the duration prescribed by your doctor.
While using Nebracin LP Eye Drop, avoid touching or rubbing your eyes unnecessarily. Do not share your eye drops with anyone else to prevent spreading infections. If you notice new symptoms or your current condition worsens within two days of starting treatment, contact your doctor promptly. Make sure to attend all scheduled follow-up visits to monitor your progress and eye health.
No, you should not wear soft contact lenses while using Nebracin LP Eye Drop, as it contains a preservative called benzalkonium chloride that can bind to the lenses and cause irritation or damage to the eyes. Wait until your treatment is complete and your doctor confirms it's safe before resuming contact lens use. If necessary, wait at least 15 minutes after using Nebracin LP Eye Drop before wearing them again.
