Dimethicone or dimeticone is used to treat dry, itchy skin or minor skin irritations, to relieve stomach pain, bloating and indigestion, hiccups, and infection of the scalp hair by the head louse.

How it works

Dimethicone belongs to class of medications called surface active substances. Dimethicone works by helping to release trapped wind by acting on inner lining of intestine; helps dry and itching skin by moisturizing the skin and kills the lice by affecting its physiological activity or by disrupting bodily water balance of lice.

Keep your hair away from fire sources (naked flames, burning cigarettes) while being treated with dimethicone lotion.
Do not take dimethicone capsules if you use mineral oil (paraffin) based laxatives.
