How Gudril Tablet works

Gudril Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Tramadol and Paracetamol which relieve severe pain. Tramadol is an opoid analgesic (pain reliever) which works by blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain to lower pain perception. Paracetamol works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain.

Quick tips

  • Gudril Tablet may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or slowed reaction time, particularly when you first start taking it. It is recommended to avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you are certain how it affects you.
  • Drink plenty of water and eat fiber-rich foods like fruits and vegetables to help prevent constipation, a common side effect of Gudril Tablet.
  • Do not drink alcohol while taking Gudril Tablet. Alcohol combined with this medicine can cause extreme drowsiness or dangerously slow your breathing.
  • During long-term treatment, your doctor may conduct regular blood tests to monitor your liver function.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart disease, high blood pressure, liver disease, kidney disease, epilepsy, or any breathing problems before taking Gudril Tablet.

Frequently asked questions

Gudril Tablet is a combination painkiller used for short-term relief of moderate to severe pain, such as pain after surgery, injury, or severe muscle and joint pain. Tramadol works by acting on pain receptors in the brain and spinal cord to reduce the intensity of pain. Paracetamol works by blocking certain chemical signals in the brain that cause pain and fever. Together, they provide stronger and faster relief than either medicine alone.
Gudril Tablet should not be used by children under 12. It should also be avoided if you have severe asthma, breathing problems, liver disorders, or epilepsy. If you are pregnant or if you drink excessive alcohol, this medicine may not be safe for you. Consult your doctor and share your complete medical history before starting this medicine.
Yes. Since Gudril Tablet contains tramadol, which is an opioid painkiller, it may cause tolerance, dependence, or addiction if used for a long time. You may feel the need to take more than the prescribed dose or use it for reasons other than pain relief. Always use it only as directed by your doctor.
Yes. It may impair the mental and physical abilities needed for driving and operating heavy machinery. Side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, and slowed reaction times are common, particularly at the start of treatment or after a dose increase. Avoid driving while taking Gudril Tablet.
Both the kidney and liver play critical roles in processing and clearing this medicine from the body. If either organ is not functioning properly, the medicine can accumulate in the body, increasing the risk of serious side effects. If you have kidney or liver disease, take Gudril Tablet only if your doctor prescribes it.
Gudril Tablet is contraindicated (must not be used) in all children under 12 years of age. It is also contraindicated in patients under 18 years of age who have had a tonsillectomy or adenoidectomy (throat or nose surgery), due to a significantly increased risk of life-threatening breathing problems. Elderly patients may take this medicine after consulting their doctor.
Patients with epilepsy or a history of seizures may face an increased risk of experiencing a seizure while taking Gudril Tablet. The seizure risk further increases when it is taken alongside certain medicines like antidepressants. Do not take Gudril Tablet without consulting your doctor.
Yes. Constipation is one of the most common side effects of Gudril Tablet. Consult your doctor if constipation becomes severe or if you develop abdominal pain and bloating. If you notice that you have not had a bowel movement for 3 or more days, contact your doctor.
No. Do not stop taking Gudril Tablet abruptly after taking it for more than a few days, as this may be unsafe. Because it is an opioid, the body can become physically dependent on it quickly. When the medicine is stopped suddenly, the body may produce withdrawal symptoms such as sweating, anxiety, insomnia, and tremors.
No. Usually, doctors prescribe Gudril Tablet for short-term use (generally up to a few days). In certain conditions, your doctor may prescribe it for longer durations depending on the severity of the condition and the type of diagnosis. If you have chronic back pain, discuss a comprehensive pain management plan with your doctor. Using opioids such as Gudril Tablet as the primary long-term strategy is generally not recommended.
No. Gudril Tablet and paracetamol are not the same medicine, even though the former contains paracetamol as an ingredient. Paracetamol and Gudril Tablet work in different ways in the body and should be taken only after consulting your doctor to avoid confusion and overdose.
