Frequently asked questions

Genoptic HC Eye Drop is used to treat eye infections with inflammation. Genoptic HC Eye Drop is a combination of gentamicin (antibiotic) and hydrocortisone (steroid). Gentamicin fights bacteria, while hydrocortisone reduces redness, swelling, and irritation. They are commonly used for conjunctivitis, uveitis, and eye injuries.
Most doctors prescribe Genoptic HC Eye Drop 3-4 times daily, or as directed by your doctor. Always follow your doctor's specific instructions, as the frequency may vary depending on your condition.
Individuals should not use Genoptic HC Eye Drop if they are allergic to gentamicin, hydrocortisone, or any ingredients present in the Genoptic HC Eye Drop. Also, avoid them if you have myasthenia gravis or certain viral eye infections (like herpes simplex) without doctor supervision.
You should remove contact lenses before using Genoptic HC Eye Drop and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. The preservative in the drops (benzalkonium chloride) can cause irritation and discoloration of soft lenses.
Most people notice improvement in their symptoms within 2-3 days of starting treatment. However, complete your full course of medication even if you feel better. Stopping too early could allow the infection to return.
Seek medical attention if you experience severe eye pain or irritation, worsening redness or swelling, vision changes, new or worsening discharge from your eye, or no improvement in symptoms after 3 days of treatment.
Prolonged use of Genoptic HC Eye Drop may increase eye pressure, possibly leading to glaucoma or vision changes. Regular eye check-ups are recommended during long-term use.
Once opened, use the eye drops within 28 to 30 days. After this period, discard the bottle to prevent the risk of infection from contamination, even if it has not expired.
