How to use Flexalone D Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet is to be taken empty stomach.

How Flexalone D Tablet works

Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Diclofenac and Metaxalone, which relieves pain and relaxes the muscles. Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Metaxalone is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centers in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm. It relieves pain and improves the movement of muscles.

Alcohol
CAUTION
It is unsafe to consume alcohol with Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet. Taking diclofenac with alcohol can increase your risk of stomach bleeding.
Pregnancy
WEIGH RISKS VS BENEFITS
Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy.
There is positive evidence of human fetal risk, but the benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk, for example in life-threatening situations. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
CAUTION
Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet is probably unsafe to use during lactation. Limited human data suggest that the drug could represent a significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Flexalone D 50mg/400mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of liver function tests is recommended in patients with liver disease if this medicine is to be taken for a long time.

Q. What is Flexalone D?

Flexalone D is a combination of two medicines: Diclofenac and Metaxalone. This combination helps to relieve muscle pain. It works by relaxing muscles by acting on central nervous system and lowering chemical substance in the body that causes pain and inflammation.

Q. Can I stop taking Flexalone D when my pain is relieved?

Flexalone D is usually used for short term and can be discontinued when your pain is relieved. However, Flexalone D should be continued if your doctor has advised you to do so.

Q. Can the use of Flexalone D cause nausea and vomiting?

Yes, the use of Flexalone D can cause nausea and vomiting. Taking it with milk, food or with antacids can prevent nausea. Avoid taking fatty or fried foods along with this medication. In case of vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids. Talk to your doctor if vomiting persists and you notice signs of dehydration like dark colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination. Do not take any other medicine without consulting a doctor.

Q. Can the use of Flexalone D cause dizziness?

Yes, the use of Flexalone D can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, it is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.

Q. Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Flexalone D?

The use of Flexalone D is considered to be harmful for patients with known allergy to painkillers (NSAIDs) or any of the components or excipients of this medicine. The use of this medicine should preferably be avoided in patients with a history of stomach ulcers or in patients who have active, recurrent stomach ulcer / bleeding. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of heart failure, high blood pressure, or any underlying liver or kidney disease.

Q. Can the use of Flexalone D cause damage to kidneys?

Yes, the long-term use of Flexalone D can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protects them from damage. Use of painkillers lower the levels of prostaglandins in the body which leads to kidney damage on long-term use. Use of painkillers is not recommended in patients with underlying kidney disease.

Q. Can I take a higher than the recommended dose of this medicine?

No, taking a higher than the recommended dose of Flexalone D can lead to increased chances of side effects. If you are experiencing increased severity of pain or the pain is not relieved by the recommended doses, please consult your doctor for re-evaluation.

Q. What is the recommended storage condition for Flexalone D?

Keep this medication in the container or the pack it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
