How to use Etrobax MR Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Etrobax MR 60 mg/4 mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Etrobax MR Tablet works

Etrobax MR 60 mg/4 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Etoricoxib and Thiocolchicoside which relieve pain and relax the muscles. Etoricoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) which works by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). Thiocolchicoside is a muscle relaxant. It works on the centres in the brain and spinal cord to relieve muscle stiffness or spasm and to improve pain and movement of muscles.

Etrobax MR, when used for long-term pain relief, should be continued for as long as advised by your physician. It can be discontinued if you are using it for short-term pain relief.
Q. Can the use of Etrobax MR cause dizziness?
Yes, the use of Etrobax MR can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded it is better to rest for some time and resume once you feel better.
Q. Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Etrobax MR?
The use of Etrobax MR is considered to be harmful for patients with known allergy to painkillers (NSAIDS) or any of the components or excipients of this medicine. The use of this medicine should preferably be avoided in patients with a history of stomach ulcers or in patients with active, recurrent stomach ulcer / bleeding It should also be avoided in patients with history of heart failure, high blood pressure, and liver or kidney disease.
Q. Can I take Etrobax MR with Vitamin B-complex?
Yes, Etrobax MR can be taken with Vitamin B-complex preparations. While Etrobax MR helps to relieve pain, Vitamin B-complex can help to correct the vitamin deficiency that might be causing your symptoms.
Q. Can the use of Etrobax MR cause damage to kidneys?
Yes, the long-term use of Etrobax MR can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protects them from damage. Use of painkillers lowers the levels of prostaglandins in the body leading to kidney damage on long-term use. Use of painkillers is not recommended to patients with underlying kidney disease.
Q. Will Etrobax MR be more effective if taken in higher doses?
No, taking more of this medicine will not make it more effective, rather it can lead to increased side effects. If the symptoms are getting severe, please consult the doctor for re-evaluation.
Q. What is the recommended storage condition for Etrobax MR?
Keep this medicine in the container or the pack it came in, tightly closed. Store it according to the instructions mentioned on the pack or label. Dispose of the unused medicine. Make sure it is not consumed by pets, children and other people.
