How to use Eldoxime-AZ Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Eldoxime-AZ Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Eldoxime-AZ Tablet works

Eldoxime-AZ Tablet is a combination of two antibiotics: Cefixime and Azithromycin. Cefixime works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of the bacteria. Azithromycin stops bacterial growth by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions.

Pregnancy

Lactation

Eldoxime-AZ Tablet is safe to use during lactation. Human studies have shown that either the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in significant amount or is not expected to cause toxicity to the baby.
There may be a possibility of diarrhea or rash in the baby.

Q. What is Eldoxime-AZ used for?

Eldoxime-AZ is a fixed-dose combination of two antibiotics and is used to treat patients with bacterial infections. Cefixime is used to treat infections of the ear, lung, throat and urinary tract. Azithromycin is useful in the treatment of ear infections, strep throat, pneumonia, traveler's diarrhea (loose stools and stomach cramps while traveling). Together they can be used to treat infections of the upper respiratory tract (typhoid and pneumonia), urinary tract and sexually transmitted diseases.

Q. What is gonorrhea and its related symptoms?

Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted disease (STD). A patient may get this disease after having oral, vaginal or anal sex. Many patients with gonorrhea do not have any symptoms. Other patients may have symptoms like pain during sex, pain while urinating, discharge from the penis in males and changes in normal vaginal discharge of females.

Q. How many days does it take to recover from typhoid?

Typhoid takes around seven and fourteen days to get cured. However, its duration can be as short as three days, or as long as 30 days. If left untreated, illness usually lasts for three to four weeks, but may be longer in a small number of cases. Symptoms vary from mild to severe to life-threatening.

Q. What is the best treatment for typhoid fever?

If typhoid fever is diagnosed in its early stages, a course of antibiotic tablets may be prescribed to you. You will be needed to take these for 7 to 14 days. Your symptoms will start improving within 2 to 3 days of taking medicines. Make sure you rest, drink plenty of fluids and eat regular meals. You should also maintain good personal hygiene, such as regularly washing your hands with soap and warm water, to reduce the risk of spreading the infection to others.

No, do not stop taking Eldoxime-AZ and complete the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cured.

Q. What if I miss my dose?

Take Eldoxime-AZ as soon you remember it. However, do not take it if it's almost time for your next dose. Also, do not take an extra dose to make up for your missed dose.

Q. Can the use of Eldoxime-AZ cause diarrhea?

Yes, the use of Eldoxime-AZ can cause diarrhea. It is an antibiotic which kills the harmful bacteria. However, it also affects the helpful bacteria in your stomach or intestine and causes diarrhea. If you are experiencing severe diarrhea, talk to your doctor about it.

Q. What if I don't get better after using Eldoxime-AZ?

Inform your doctor if you don't feel better after finishing the full course of treatment. Also, inform him if your symptoms are getting worse while using this medicine.

Q. What special precautions should I follow while taking Eldoxime-AZ?
