Dechol Eye/Ear Drops is to be used only in the affected eye or ear. Read the label carefully for instruction before you use the medicine. Use it in the exact dose and duration as advised by the doctor or as instructed in the label. Wash your hands before using this medicine. Do not use too much or too little. Complete your dose and do not stop using the medicine even if you feel better until the doctor says it is alright to stop.
Use of this medicine may cause burning sensation, stinging, and irritation at the application site. These are usually temporary and resolve with time. However, if they persist or get worse, inform your doctor. In case of accidental contact with your nose or mouth, immediately rinse it with water.
Inform your doctor if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients in this medicine or if you are taking any other medication. It is advised not to drive or operate heavy machinery immediately after using this medicine as it may cause temporary blurring of vision and may affect your ability to drive.

How Dechol Eye/Ear Drops works
Dechol Eye/Ear Drops is a combination of three medicines: Chloramphenicol, Dexamethasone and Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate. Chloramphenicol is an antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth in the eye/ear by preventing the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Dexamethasone is a steroid. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the eye/ear red, swollen, and itchy. Phenyl Mercuric Nitrate is a preservative.
Quick tips
- Your doctor has prescribed Dechol Eye/Ear Drops to cure your eye/ear infection and improve your symptoms.
- It should usually be used twice a day (in the morning and the evening). If your symptoms are particularly severe, your doctor may suggest you use them up to four times a day.
- Wash your hands first before applying Dechol Eye/Ear Drops. To avoid contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye/ear or any other surface. If it does, squeeze out two or three drops straightaway onto some tissue and rinse the tip with saltwater.
