How Cefum Injection works

Cefum 500 mg/500 mg Injection is a combination of two medicines: Cefoperazone and Sulbactam. Cefoperazone is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefoperazone against bacteria.

If you start to experience vomiting, drink plenty of water or other fluids. Try small frequent sips of the liquid. Talk to your doctor if you have persistent vomiting and signs of dehydration like dark colored and strong-smelling urine and a low frequency of urination. Do not take any other medicines without speaking to a doctor.

Talk to your doctor if you have persistent diarrhea and any signs of dehydration like less urination with dark coloured and strong-smelling urine. Do not take any other medicines without consulting a doctor.

No, do not stop taking Cefum and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared.
