Broxin Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat cough. It also helps to relieve allergy symptoms like runny nose, sneezing, throat irritation, watery eyes and congestion or stuffiness. It also thins, loosens the mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe and lungs making it easier to cough out.
Broxin Tablet is taken in a dose and duration as advised by the doctor. The dose you are given will depend on your condition and how you respond to the medicine. You should keep taking this medicine for as long as your doctor recommends. If you stop treatment too early your symptoms may come back and your condition may worsen. Let your healthcare team know about all other medications you are taking as some may affect, or be affected by this medicine.
The most common side effects are coordination impaired, headache, blurred vision, nausea, dryness in mouth, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, tremor, and high blood pressure. Most of these are temporary and usually resolve with time. Contact your doctor straight away if you are at all concerned about any of these side effects. How to use Broxin Tablet
Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Broxin Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.
How Broxin Tablet works
Broxin Tablet is a combination of three medicines. Bromhexine is a mucolytic medication. It thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe, and lungs making it easier to cough out. Chlorpheniramine Maleate is an antiallergic medication. When your body is exposed to an allergen (pollen, animal dander, house dust, etc.), it produces a chemical called histamine. This causes watery eyes, runny or blocked nose, sneezing, skin rashes, itching, etc. It works by blocking the action of histamine, thereby relieving these symptoms of allergy. Ephedrine sympathomimetic agent. It acts as a bronchodilator and decongestant. It works by compressing the blood vessels to keep the airway passage (trachea, bronchus, and bronchioles) clear for easy breathing. This is how it works to treat symptoms of cough.
