Product introduction

Blueject 10mg Injection is given as an injection by a doctor or a nurse. Do not self-administer this medicine at home. Get the complete dose of the injection for maximum benefits. Do not stop it suddenly without consulting the doctor. If your condition does not improve, let your doctor know. They may initiate an alternative treatment.

Some common side effects of this medicine include pain in extremities, chromaturia (abnormal coloration of urine), taste change, feeling hot, dizziness, sweating, nausea, skin discoloration, and headaches. It may also cause confusion and disturbances in vision, do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you.

Before taking this medicine, let your doctor know if you have any medical conditions such as blood disorders such as anemia or a history of allergic reactions with this medicine. Let your doctor also know about all the other medicines that you are taking. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctors before taking this medicine as it may cause harmful effects to the developing baby.

How Blueject Injection works

Methylene blue acts as a reducing agent to reduce methemoglobin to hemoglobin. It is reduced to leucomethylene blue in the red blood cells of our body, by combining with a chemical nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADPH), in the presence of an enzyme called NADPH reductase. Leucomethylene blue reduces methemoglobin to hemoglobin and restores the oxygen carrying capacity of hemoglobin. This helps in the treatment of Methemoglobinemia.

Blueject 10mg Injection is used to treat acquired methemoglobinemia (when blood cannot carry oxygen well), helping restore normal oxygen levels in the body in adults and children.
People with G6PD deficiency (a red blood cell enzyme problem) must not receive Blueject 10mg Injection because it can cause severe hemolytic anemia (breakdown of red blood cells). Also, anyone with a severe allergy to methylene blue or similar dyes should not receive it.
Blueject 10mg Injection can dangerously raise serotonin (a brain chemical) when used with serotonergic drugs such as SSRIs/SNRIs (many antidepressants), MAOIs, linezolid, some opioids, or dextromethorphan (cough medicine). This can lead to serotonin syndrome (agitation, fever, fast heartbeat, stiff muscles), which is life‑threatening.
After receiving Blueject 10mg Injection, get help right away if you develop a severe allergic reaction (swelling, trouble breathing, hives), signs of serotonin syndrome (confusion, high fever, shaking, stiff muscles, diarrhea), chest pain, seizures, or signs of anemia (extreme tiredness, pale skin, yellow eyes/skin, dark urine).
Yes. Blueject 10mg Injection can make pulse oximeters (finger oxygen clips) read low by mistake. Doctors may use blood tests instead to check oxygen levels after the injection.
Kidney or liver problems can make Blueject 10mg Injection stay longer in your body, so doctors may use fewer doses and monitor you longer for side effects.
If methemoglobinemia does not improve after two doses of Blueject 10mg Injection, doctors will consider other treatments instead of giving more methylene blue.
