Belustine 40 Capsule should be taken on an empty stomach, but try to take it at the same time every day. Your doctor will decide what dose is necessary and how often you need to take it. This will depend on what you are being treated for and may change from time to time. You should take it exactly as your doctor has advised. Taking it in the wrong way or taking too much can cause very serious side effects. It may take several weeks or months for you to see or feel the benefits but do not stop taking it unless your doctor tells you to.

The most common side effect of this medicine is decreased white blood cell count in your body. It may also cause nausea, vomiting, hair loss, and other side effects. Regular blood tests are required to check your blood cells along with kidney, liver, and heart function during treatment with this medicine. Inform your doctor if you observe signs of infections such as fever, chills, body ache, or if you have unusual bruising or bleeding.

Before taking it, tell your doctor if you have liver, or kidney problems or are taking any medicines to treat infections. Many other medicines can affect, or be affected by, this medicine so let your doctor know all medications you are using. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. The use of effective contraception by both males and females during treatment is important to avoid pregnancy.

Malignant melanoma
Malignant melanoma is a type of skin cancer that develops in melanocytes, the cells that produce the pigment called melanin. Melanin is the pigment that gives the skin its color. Malignant melanoma is the most deadly and aggressive kind of skin cancer. Belustine 40 Capsule sticks to the genetic code, called DNA,of the cancer cells and kills them . It also prevents their growth and further spread. This helps to treat the cancer.

Brain tumor is an abnormal mass or collection of cells that may be cancerous (malignant) or non-cancerous (benign). Belustine 40 Capsule kills or stops the growth of cancer cells and also prevents the multiplication of cancer cells. It is a potent and very toxic medicine and you should discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. Youshould avoid drinking alcohol while having this treatment and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated.

Interaction with drugs

Taking Belustine with any of the following medicines can modify the effect of either of them and cause some undesirable side effects

Severe

Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated) (Oral Route)

Do not use Lomustine with Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated). If Lomustine is essential, ensure a gap of At least 6 months after discontinuing Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated). Please consult your doctor. Lomustine may reduce efficacy of Cholera Vaccine (Inactivated).

Severe

Herpes Zoster / Shingles Vaccine (Recombinant, Adjuvanted) (Injection Route)

Do not use Lomustine with Herpes Zoster / Shingles Vaccine (Recombinant, Adjuvanted). If Lomustine is essential, ensure a gap of At least 6 months after discontinuing Herpes Zoster / Shingles Vaccine (Recombinant, Adjuvanted). Please consult your doctor. Lomustine may reduce efficacy of Herpes Zoster / Shingles Vaccine (Recombinant, Adjuvanted).

Severe

Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine (Injection Route)

Do not use Lomustine with Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine. If Lomustine is essential, ensure a gap of At least 6 months after discontinuing Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine. Please consult your doctor. Lomustine may reduce efficacy of Purified Vi Polysaccharide Typhoid Vaccine.

Severe

Filgrastim (Injection Route)

Do not consume Filgrastim from 24 hours before or 24 hours after taking Lomustine. Please consult with your doctor. Lomustine may reduce the efficacy of Filgrastim.

Pegfilgrastim (Injection Route)

Do not consume Pegfilgrastim within 24 hours after taking Lomustine. Please consult with your doctor. Lomustine may reduce the efficacy of Pegfilgrastim.
