Azyxin Plus 500 mg/75 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Azithromycin and Ambroxol which treat respiratory tract infection associated with excessive mucus (phlegm). Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Ambroxol is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Addition of Ambroxol enhances the antibacterial effect of Azithromycin.

I have diabetes, and I'm taking Glycomet for the same. I was recently hospitalised with a lower respiratory tract infection. The antibiotics I was prescribed gave me diarrhoea. Since the antibiotics course is now over, the doctor has now asked me to take Econorm (twice a day) and Sibofix 400 MG (twice a day). My question is whether I can avoid taking Sibofix, because I am afraid my diarrhoea will restart because Sibofix is an antibiotic. Currently my only problems are lack of appetite and a bloated sensation in my stomach.
