Overview

Introduction

Anzocalm 0.25 mg/20 mg Tablet is a prescription medicine used to treat anxiety. It calms the brain by decreasing the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells. It also blocks the action of certain chemical messengers on the heart and blood vessels. This reduces heart rate and blood pressure.

Anzocalm 0.25 mg/20 mg Tablet should not be taken with food, especially protein-rich food. However, it is advisable to take it at the same time each day as this helps to maintain consistent level of medicine in the body. Take this medicine in the dose and duration advised by your doctor as it has high habit-forming potential. If you miss a dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. Finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better. It is important not to stop taking this medicine suddenly as it may cause withdrawal symptoms. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking this medicine as this may reduce its effectiveness.

Some common side effects of this medicine include memory impairment, slow heart rate, fatigue, depression, sleep disturbances, nightmares, cold extremities and confusion. It may also cause dizziness and sleepiness. So, do not drive or do anything that requires mental focus until you know how this medicine affects you. It may cause weight gain or weight loss depending upon person to person. To prevent weight gain, you can eat a healthy balanced diet, avoid snacking with high-calorie food and exercise regularly. On the other hand, weight loss can be managed by increasing food portions and consulting a dietitian. Caution should be taken in impaired liver and kidney disease.

How to use Anzocalm Tablet

How Anzocalm Tablet works

Anzocalm 0.25 mg/20 mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Alprazolam and Propranolol. Alprazolam is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in brain. Propranolol is a beta blocker which blocks the action of certain chemical messengers on the heart and blood vessels. This reduces heart rate, blood pressure, and strain on the heart.

Lactation

Kidney

Anzocalm 0.25 mg/20 mg Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Anzocalm 0.25 mg/20 mg Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Please consult your doctor.
Liver
CAUTION
Anzocalm 0.25 mg/20 mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Anzocalm 0.25 mg/20 mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Regular monitoring of blood pressure is advisable for dose adjustment.

Suffering from anxiety disorder with mild depressiMedicines are : zosert 50 - 1.5 tab per day, zapiz : 0.5 a day. Have to take BP meds and for dyslipidemia. How to get rid of from zapiz because there is a dependence on that ? Prescribe please.

Reduce zapiz by 0.25 mg for a few weeks and then further by half. If you feel anxious, sertraline dose may need to be adjusted.
