Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Measure it with a measuring cup and take it by mouth. Shake well before use. Anthex Syrup may be taken with or without food.

How Anthex Syrup works

Anthex Syrup is a combination of three medicines: ambroxol, levosalbutamol, and guaifenesin. Ambroxol is a mucolytic that thins and loosens mucus in the airways, making it easier to cough up. Levosalbutamol is a bronchodilator that relaxes the muscles around the airways, helping open them and making breathing easier. Guaifenesin is an expectorant that helps clear mucus from the airways by making it thinner and less sticky, promoting its removal through coughing. Together, these medicines help reduce mucus buildup, ease breathing, and relieve cough associated with mucus.

Quick tips

  • Anthex Syrup is used to relieve cough with mucus by thinning and clearing phlegm from the airways.
  • Drink plenty of fluids while taking Anthex Syrup, as this helps loosen mucus and improves its effect.
  • Anthex Syrup is not meant for dry cough (cough without mucus).
  • Anthex Syrup may cause dizziness or sleepiness. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • Stop taking Anthex Syrup and contact your doctor if you develop severe palpitations, chest discomfort, tremors, or a very fast heartbeat.
  • Inform your doctor if you have heart disease, high blood pressure, thyroid disorders, or diabetes before taking Anthex Syrup.
  • Do not take more than the recommended dose, as overdose may cause rapid heartbeat, nervousness, or tremors.
  • Consult your doctor if your cough lasts more than a few days, worsens, or is accompanied by fever, breathlessness, or chest pain.
  • Do not use Anthex Syrup without medical advice in children, pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Frequently asked questions

Anthex Syrup is used to treat cough with mucus (wet or productive cough). It helps thin and loosen phlegm so it can be coughed out more easily and also relaxes the airway muscles to improve breathing. It contains ambroxol, a mucolytic that thins mucus; guaifenesin, an expectorant that reduces mucus stickiness; and levosalbutamol, a bronchodilator that relaxes airway muscles. Because it works by clearing mucus, it is usually not recommended for dry cough where little or no phlegm is present. Use it only as advised by a doctor.
Anthex Syrup is generally safe when used as prescribed, but some people may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain, dizziness, headache, tremors, palpitations, or muscle cramps. Mild rash or allergic reactions may also occur. These effects are usually temporary. Stop the medicine and contact your doctor if you develop severe rash, breathing difficulty, fainting, a very fast heartbeat, or persistent vomiting or diarrhea.
Anthex Syrup should not be used by people who are allergic to any of its components. Anthex Syrup may interact with medicines such as beta-blockers and other drugs used for heart or breathing conditions. Extra care is needed during pregnancy, breastfeeding, or in people with kidney, liver, heart, or blood pressure problems.
