How Anaproct Rectal Ointment works
Anaproct Ointment is a combination of four medicines: Hydrocortisone, Zinc Oxide, Lidocaine, and Allantoin, that helps treat anal fissures . Hydrocortisone is a steroid which blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Zinc Oxide has astringent and antiseptic action. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic which works by blocking pain signals from the nerves to the brain thereby decreasing pain sensation. Allantoin is a skin protectant that moisturizes and softens the skin.
Quick tips
- Anaproct Ointment is prescribed to get relief from pain and swelling in the rectal area due to fissures.

- Sometimes certain medicines like iron tablets, antibiotics might make your stools hard and difficult to pass. Inform your doctor if you are taking any of them.
- Apart from using Anaproct Ointment, you can indulge in warm baths. It may help soothe the area and thus may ease the pain.
