Abufen-C Tablet is a pain-relieving medicine. It is used to reduce pain and inflammation in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis. It may also be used to relieve muscle pain, back pain, toothache, or pain in the ear and throat.

Abufen-C Tablet may be prescribed alone or in combination with another medicine. It should be taken with food. This will prevent you from getting an upset stomach. You should take it strictly as advised by your doctor. Do not take more or use it for a longer duration than recommended by your doctor.

This medicine may cause few common side effects such as nausea, indigestion, stomach pain, restlessness, and increased heart rate. If you experienced any such side effects that do not resolve with time or get worse, you should let your doctor know. Your doctor may help with ways to reduce or prevent them.

Take it as it is prescribed to get the most benefit. Do not take more or for longer than needed as that can be dangerous. In general, you should take the lowest dose that works, for the shortest possible time.

How Abufen-C Tablet works

Abufen-C Tablet is a combination of two pain relievers (Ibuprofen, Paracetamol) and a stimulant (Caffeine). The pain relievers work by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that cause pain and inflammation (redness and swelling). The presence of Caffeine increases the effectiveness of Paracetamol / Acetaminophen.

Abufen-C Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Abufen-C Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Abufen-C Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Long term use of this medicine can affect the kidney function.
Liver
CAUTION
Abufen-C Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Abufen-C Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
However, the use of Abufen-C Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease and active liver disease.

What if you forget to take Abufen-C Tablet?

If you miss a dose of Abufen-C Tablet, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

The use of Abufen-C Tablet is considered to be harmful for patients with known allergy to painkillers (NSAIDs) or any of the components or excipients of this medicine. The use of this medication should preferably be avoided in patients having a history of stomach ulcers or in patients who have active, recurrent stomach ulcer / bleeding. It should also be avoided in patients with a history of heart failure, high blood pressure or any underlying liver or kidney disease.

Yes, Abufen-C Tablet can cause insomnia. Take Abufen-C Tablet in the morning or afternoon to avoid insomnia. Consult the doctor if you are having persistent sleeping problem or insomnia (inability to sleep) while taking this medicine.

Q. Can the use of Abufen-C Tablet cause damage to kidneys?

Yes, the long-term use of Abufen-C Tablet can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protects them from damage. Use of painkillers lower the levels of prostaglandins in the body which leads to kidney damage on long-term use. Use of painkillers is not recommended in patients with underlying kidney disease.

No, taking more of this medicine will not make it more effective, rather it can lead to increased side effects. If the symptoms are getting severe despite taking the medicine, please consult the doctor for re-evaluation.
