Patient Concerns about Nex Products

Frequently asked questions about Nex Products

Q. What is Nex 400mcg Injection used for?

Nex 400mcg Injection is an emergency medicine used to rapidly reverse the life-threatening effects of an opioid overdose. It can quickly restore normal breathing in a person whose breathing has slowed down or stopped due to taking too many opioids.

Q. How quickly does Nex 400mcg Injection start to work?

When given intravenously (IV), Nex 400mcg Injection works extremely fast, often within one to two minutes. If it is injected into a muscle (intramuscular) or under the skin (subcutaneous), it starts to work within about 2 to 5 minutes.

Q. Where on the body should I give Nex 400mcg Injection?

For intramuscular auto-injectors of Nex 400mcg Injection, the best place to inject the medicine is into the middle of the outer thigh. You can even give the injection through clothing if you need to act quickly. Also, try to take the affected person to the hospital as soon as possible.

Q. What happens if I give Nex 400mcg Injection to someone who has not taken opioids?

If you give Nex 400mcg Injection to someone who is unconscious for a reason other than an opioid overdose, it is unlikely to harm them. Since it is hard to be sure of the cause in an emergency, it is always safer to administer this medicine if an opioid overdose is suspected.

Q. Will one dose of Nex 400mcg Injection be enough?

Sometimes, a single dose of Nex 400mcg Injection is not enough, or the person may respond and then relapse into respiratory depression. It may be necessary to give additional doses of this medicine every 2 to 3 minutes until emergency medical help arrives or the person is breathing normally again.

Q. What should I do if the person does not wake up after Nex 400mcg Injection?

If the person does not respond to Nex 400mcg Injection, you must be prepared to perform other life-saving measures. This could include rescue breathing or starting CPR if you are trained to do so, while you wait for paramedics to arrive.
