How Mosol-T Products work
Mometasone + Terbinafine is a combination of two medicines: Mometasone + Terbinafine1 and Mometasone + Terbinafine2 which treat skin infections. Mometasone + Terbinafine1 is a steroid medicine. It blocks the production of certain chemical messengers (prostaglandins) that make the skin red, swollen and itchy. Mometasone + Terbinafine2 is an antifungal which stops the growth of fungi by preventing them from forming their own protective covering.
Patient Concerns about Mosol-T Products
Frequently asked questions about Mosol-T Products
Frequently asked questions about Mosol-T Products
Q. What is this Mosol-T Cream used for?
Mosol-T Cream is a combination medicine for fungal skin infections that are inflamed or itchy (for example, fungal rashes with redness and intense itching). The antifungal (terbinafine) targets the fungus, and the steroid (mometasone) reduces the swelling and itch.
Q. Can anyone use Mosol-T Cream, or are there people who must not use it?
Mosol-T Cream should not be used if the person is allergic to terbinafine, mometasone, related corticosteroids, or any ingredient in the medicine. Also, individuals should avoid using Mosol-T Cream on certain conditions, such as rosacea, acne on the face, perioral dermatitis, genital itching from non-fungal causes, open wounds, ulcerated skin, bacterial/viral infections (like impetigo or cold sores), or where the skin is broken. If in doubt, ask your doctor.
Q. I have a rash on my face. Is Mosol-T Cream safe to use on my face?
No, facial use of Mosol-T Cream is restricted. It is advised not to use Mosol-T Cream on the face for more than 5 days, and you should not use occlusion there. Facial skin and children are more prone to steroid side effects, so follow your doctor’s advice.
Q. Are there any serious health risks from Mosol-T Cream I should watch for?
Yes. With excessive, prolonged, or large-area use of Mosol-T Cream, the steroid present in Mosol-T Cream can be absorbed and cause hormone changes (HPA axis suppression). Signs can include unusual tiredness, weight changes, or rounding of the face. Also, stop and contact your doctor if you get signs of allergic reaction, rapidly worsening infection, or blurred vision/other visual problems.
Q. My child needs treatment. Is Mosol-T Cream okay for children?
Mosol-T Cream is not recommended for children under 2 years. Children who absorb more through the skin can be more likely to develop steroid-related hormone effects (e.g., slowed growth). Use in children only under close medical supervision, and avoid long or large-area applications.
Q. Can Mosol-T Cream make a fungal infection worse?
In some cases, yes. Mosol-T Cream can change how lesions look or suppress local immunity, and may mask or aggravate an infection. If the treated area becomes worse or does not improve, stop the medicine, and see your doctor, as they may switch to a different antifungal or steroid combination.
Q. Are there any surprising safety warnings I should know about (e.g., around fire or clothing) for Mosol-T Cream?
Yes, it is advised that fabric (clothing, bedding) that has been in contact with Mosol-T Cream can burn more easily and is a fire hazard (do not smoke or go near naked flames). Washing may reduce, but may not remove product build-up from fabrics.
