Thallium ICPMS Urine Spot

The Thallium ICPMS Urine Spot test measures the amount of thallium in the urine sample. Thallium is a toxic heavy metal  which enters into your body through skin contact, inhalation, or ingestion, commonly through contaminated food or water. The Thallium ICPMS Urine Spot test is used to assess thallium exposure and identify thallium poisoning. It may be advised when there are symptoms of thallium toxicity, such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, hair loss, weakness, or neurological symptoms like confusion or numbness. The test is particularly crucial for individuals working in industries where thallium exposure is common, such as electronics manufacturing or chemical production. Additionally, it is used to monitor individuals undergoing treatment for thallium toxicity or those who may have a history or suspicion of exposure to thallium.

This test is done by a highly specialised Mass Spectrometric technique (ICP-MS) that can measure elements at trace levels in body fluids.
