Pneumocystis Jirovecii Qualitative PCR in Visakhapatnam

Pneumocystis Jirovecii Qualitative PCR test is for rapid qualitative detection of Pneumocystis jirovecii (fungus) in the blood sample especially in patients suspected to have Pneumocystis pneumonia (PCP) and where it is difficult to collect the recommended respiratory samples. This is a Real-time PCR-based test.  This fungus is common in the environment and rarely causes illness in healthy people. However, it can cause a lung infection in people with a weakened immune system due to cancer, long-term use of corticosteroids, HIV/AIDS, and organ or bone marrow transplants. PCP can be life-threatening. Patients with this infection need early and effective treatment. RT-PCR is a sensitive and specific method for the identification of the pathogen since other conventional techniques lack sensitivity and require expertise. Test results mention if this fungus is detected or not detected in the sample. In rare conditions, the results could also be inconclusive.
