PML/RARA - t(15;17) Qualitative by PCR
Understanding PML/RARA - t(15;17) Qualitative by PCR
What is PML/RARA - t(15;17) Qualitative by PCR?
PML/RARA - t(15;17) Qualitative by PCR test is used to detect the acute promyelocytic leukemia-retinoic acid receptor alpha (PML-RARA) gene sequence. This abnormal gene is formed due to the fusion (translocation) of PML and RARA gene sequences and results in Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APML). This is a type of Acute Myeloid Leukemia (M3) and comprises 5-10% of cases.
This is a qualitative test for the detection of this abnormal gene sequence using the PCR technique. The doctor may advise this test if he suspects leukemia and wants to diagnose APML or even to monitor for recurrence.
Please note: This is an outsourced test. The sample for this test is collected by TATA 1MG and processed at a NABL accredited partnered lab.
What is PML/RARA - t(15;17) Qualitative by PCR used for?
The test is used to diagnose acute promyelocytic leukemia (APML), detecting recurrent or residual APL and monitor the promyelocytic leukemia-retinoic acid receptor alpha (PML-RARA) levels in APL patients.
