Understanding MRI Nasopharynx with Contrast (MRI)
What is MRI Nasopharynx with Contrast (MRI)?
A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Nasopharynx creates a picture of the nose, mouth, pharynx, larynx, and surrounding soft tissues. The contrast helps in detecting even the smallest tumors, and hence improves the sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy of the MRI scan.
This test is prescribed by the doctor to detect blockage in the nasal region or cause of nasal bleeding and to find out the presence of any tumor (abnormal mass growth) in the nasopharyngeal region.
What is MRI Nasopharynx with Contrast (MRI) used for?
- To diagnose nasopharngeal infections like pharyngitis (inflammation of pharynx), epiglottitis (larynx lid inflammation), sinusitis (sinuses inflammation), otitis media (earache due to nasopharyngeal infection).
- To detect blockage in the nasal region or cause of nasal bleeding
- To find out presence of any tumor/cyst (abnormal mass growth) in the nasopharyngeal region.
