Ganglioside IgM antibodies are autoantibodies that target gangliosides, which are complex molecules found in the cell membrane of neurons. Ganglioside IgM Antibody, Serum test detects IgM antibodies against 7 gangliosides, namely GM1, GM2, GM3, GD1a, GD1b, GT1b, and GQ1b. The antibodies can help diagnose multifocal neuropathy, Guillain-Barre syndrome, Miller-Fisher syndrome & sensory neuropathy. The test is done for patients who are likely to suffer from autoimmune central nervous system disorders.
