Fine Needle Aspiration Cytology (FNAC) is a diagnostic procedure to examine lesions or lumps inside the body observed by touch or during a scan. During this procedure a needle is inserted into the particular body part under investigation and fluid is collected from the site. The injection sites mostly involve breasts, liver, kidney, lungs, prostrate, pancreas, lymph nodes etc. This technique is used to detect tumors in different parts of the body. It is also used to examine any kind of cysts found in the body.
This technique involves minimum invasion and mild or no pain.
It is believed to be accurate, quick and mitigates the panic for the patient.
