The 99m Tc Thyroid Scan is an imaging technique to visualize thyroid gland by using a radioactive tracer dye Tc-99m pertechnetate. It is a useful radioactive label for thyroid scanning because of low dosage and optimal resolution. This method helps to diagnose thyroid related disorders including hashimotos disease, graves disease, hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism and inflamation. It is also helpful in identifying goiter, cysts, nodules and dysfunction of the thyroid gland.
