This test is a blood test that detects how likely the Red blood cells are to break or rupture when they are put in a hemodiluted or hypotonic solution, which makes the cells swell and burst. It helps diagnose blood disoders like Hereditary Spherocytosis and Thallesemia where the RBCs are more fragile and easy to breakdown causing hemolysis.
