Understanding Smear for Malignant Cells, Urine
What is Smear for Malignant Cells, Urine?
Smear For Malignant Cells, Urine, also known as a urine cytology, is a test that examines your urine for the presence of malignant cells. It is used along with other tests and treatments to detect urinary tract cancers, most common being bladder cancer. Your doctor might recommend this test if you suffer from urinary tract cancer symptoms such as blood in the urine and burning during urination.
The test is scheduled after your first-morning urination. For this, microscopic examination of the ruine is done to check for the types of cells and observe for symptoms of malignancy in the cells. If abnormal or malignant cells are found, your doctor will likely order a cystoscopy and a CT scan to further evaluate your bladder and urinary system.
