An Allergy, Individual Marker, PECAN is a blood test used to detect an allergy to pecans by identifying specific antibodies against the pecan antigen. Pecans are a type of nut known to cause allergies in most people. If you are allergic to pecans, your immune system triggers an allergic reaction when you consume these nuts. As a result, IgE antibodies produce histamines, and you manifest symptoms of the allergy.
