Understanding Allergy, Individual Marker, Coconut
What is Allergy, Individual Marker, Coconut?
Some people are allergic to coconut oil. The body shows an over protective response to exposure to coconut products. In case of symptoms like watery or itchy eyes, rashes, sneezing, stomach or abdominal cramps, swelling of the lips, nausea, or vomiting due to ingesting coconut oil or coconut products, go for a specific allergen lab test.
The lab test involves taking a sample of blood to measure its IgE antibodies levels. If the levels are high, then an allergy is present. One can also undertake skin testing/patch testing which involves the allergen being inserted into the skin and waiting for some time; if the patient is allergic, a red itchy ring will appear around the allergen.
Interpreting Allergy, Individual Marker, Coconut results
Interpretations
* If your total IgE level is increased, it usually indicates that you are suffering from one or more allergies. Sometimes, increased levels are also associated with parasitic infections. * An elevated IgE indicates an allergic process but does not indicate what a person is allergic to. In general, the greater the number of things a person is allergic to, the higher is the IgE level.
