Understanding Allergy, Individual Marker, Celery
What is Allergy, Individual Marker, Celery?
Allergy, Individual Marker, CELERY is a lab test used to measure the amount of specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) for celery in the blood. Some individuals exhibit allergic reactions when exposed to certain substances like foods, drugs, plants, trees, etc. These substances are collectively called allergens. The allergic reactions are mediated by IgE, an antibody produced by the immune system. Symptoms of an allergy include skin rashes, nausea, diarrhea, itching, redness, shortness of breath, asthma, etc.
The doctor will recommend this test to check if an individual is allergic to celery. High levels of celery-specific IgE in the blood usually indicate that a person may be allergic to celery. However, additional confirmatory tests would be recommended. Celery allergy can be managed by avoiding the intake of celery in any form.
