What is Anti Insulin Antibodies?
Anti Insulin Antibodies test is performed to detect if your body has produced sufficient antibodies against insulin, a hormone secreted by your pancreas.
It also detects the risk of acquiring type 1 diabetes. If you experience sudden weight loss, slow healing of wounds, dehydration, and frequent urination, you will be asked to take this test. This test is performed using blood samples extracted via venipuncture (extraction from a vein, usually the arm). You will be asked to fast for over 8 hours the night before the test and refrain from all liquids except water. If you are on any medication, speak to your doctor about it before the test. This test is considered safe for all patients.
What is Anti Insulin Antibodies used for?
"The test is taken due to these reasons;
1.The patient is at a risk of developing type 1 diabetes.
2.The patient is suffering from allergic reactions to insulin.
3.Insulin is no longer the controlling factor of diabetes.
