Allergy, Individual Marker, Common Ragweed
Understanding Allergy, Individual Marker, Common Ragweed
What is Allergy, Individual Marker, Common Ragweed?
Ragweed is a plant-based allergy. When people exhibit symptoms of seasonal allergies around late summer, it can be due to ragweed pollen. Late summer is the season for ragweed pollination. One can get tested for serum IgE level for ragweed allergy to confirm if it's an allergic reaction or not. If serum IgE levels are above the normal range of 0.35-100 kU/L and it is late summer, you have a confirmed diagnosis of ragweed allergy.
IgE range provides the immunity level of an allergic person. You may experience sneezing, runny or stuffy nose, or asthmatic reactions. Sensitive people should avoid the consumption of watermelon, banana, zucchini, cucumber, and sunflower seeds because all of them contain ragweed pollen. Consult a doctor and take proper medication to prevent the same.
Interpreting Allergy, Individual Marker, Common Ragweed results
Interpretations
* If your total IgE level is increased, it usually indicates that you are suffering from one or more allergies. Sometimes, increased levels are also associated with parasitic infections. * An elevated IgE indicates an allergic process but does not indicate what a person is allergic to. In general, the greater the number of things a person is allergic to, the higher is the IgE level.
