What is HIV Monitoring?
Human Immunodeficiency Virus or HIV is the cause of AIDS. The monitoring tests are done to identify the presence of antibodies against HIV antigen in the blood. Sometimes the tests detect HIV antibody in the oral fluids as well. The virus appears in the body when a person uses a contaminated needle or when the body comes in contact with the blood or fluid of a contaminated person.
Why is HIV Monitoring done?
In order to check whether you are infected with the Virus, you needs to be tested. It is recommended to get tested between the ages of 13-64. In case of threat of an exposure to the virus or before and during pregnancy, the test should be carried out.
