Understanding MRI Thoracic Aorta with Contrast (MRI)
What is MRI Thoracic Aorta with Contrast (MRI)?
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Thoracic aorta is a radiationless test that creates images of the Thoracic part (related to the chest) of the Aorta (blood vessel). The contrast helps in increasing the visibility of the internal organs and hence improves the sensitivity and diagnostic accuracy of the MRI scan.
This test is done to evaluate the physical trauma or injury to the thoracic aorta, to assess any abnormal formation and interconnections of blood vessels, and to determine the presence of hemorrhage or internal bleeding.
What is MRI Thoracic Aorta with Contrast (MRI) used for?
- To evaluate the physical trauma or injury to the thoracic aorta
- To evaluate any weak points of the blood vessels or aneurysm
- To check for blockages in blood vessels due to plaque deposition or blood clot formation
- To assess any abnormal formation and interconnections of blood vessels
- To study the tumors (abnormal growth) and blood supply to tumors
- To determine the presence of haemorrhage or internal bleeding
