How to use Xibnus-P Tablet

Take this medicine in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break it. Xibnus-P 60mg/500mg Tablet may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time.

How Xibnus-P Tablet works

Xibnus-P 60mg/500mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Etoricoxib and Paracetamol / Acetaminophen. Etoricoxib is a non-steroidal antiinflammatory drug (NSAID) and Paracetamol / Acetaminophen is an antipyretic (fever reducer). They work by blocking the release of certain chemical messengers in the brain that cause pain and fever.

Pregnancy

Xibnus-P 60mg/500mg Tablet may be unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Animal studies have shown adverse effects on the foetus, however, there are limited human studies. The benefits from use in pregnant women may be acceptable despite the risk. Please consult your doctor.
Lactation
No information is available on the use of Xibnus-P 60mg/500mg Tablet during lactation. Please consult your doctor.
Driving
Xibnus-P 60mg/500mg Tablet may make you feel dizzy, sleepy, tired, or decrease alertness. If this happens, do not drive.
Kidney
CAUTION
Xibnus-P 60mg/500mg Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Xibnus-P 60mg/500mg Tablet may be needed. Please consult your doctor.
Use of Xibnus-P 60mg/500mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver

Q. Can the use of Xibnus-P cause dizziness?
Yes, the use of Xibnus-P can cause dizziness (feeling faint, weak, unsteady or lightheaded) in some patients. If you feel dizzy or lightheaded, stop what you are doing and sit or lie down for sometime or until you feel better and do not drive or use any machines.
Q. Are there any specific contraindications associated with the use of Xibnus-P?
The use of Xibnus-P is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to any of the component or excipients of this medicine or in patients with known allergy to other pain killers (NSAIDs). The use of this medicine should preferably be avoided in patients with a history of or active, recurrent stomach ulcer / bleeding and in patients with history of heart failure, high blood pressure, and liver or kidney disease.
Q. Can the use of Xibnus-P cause damage to kidneys?
Yes, the long term use of Xibnus-P can cause damage to the kidneys. Normal kidneys produce a chemical called prostaglandins that protects the kidneys from damage. Use of pain-killers lower the levels of prostaglandins in the body leading to kidney damage on long term use. Use of pain killers is not recommended in patients with underlying kidney disease.
Q. Will Xibnus-P be more effective if taken in higher doses?
No, taking more of this medicine will not make it more effective. Consuming higher than the recommended dose of Xibnus-P can lead to increased side effects. If the symptoms are getting severe, please consult the doctor for re-evaluation.
Q. Can the use of Xibnus-P cause damage to liver?
Xibnus-P contains Paracetamol. These medicine are known to cause harm to the liver especially in the doses above the recommended level. Also, avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine, as it may further increase your risk of liver damage. Use of this medicine should preferably be avoided in patients with the underlying liver disease. Contact your doctor immediately If you notice any early signs and symptoms of liver damage such as fever, rash, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, fatigue, stomach pain, dark urine, yellow skin or eyes and abnormal live enzymes.
Q. Can I stop taking Xibnus-P when my pain is relieved?
Xibnus-P should be continued for as long as advised by your doctor if you are using the medicine for a condition associated with long term pain. It can be discontinued if you are using it for short term pain relief.
