Uses of Optipres Eye Drop

Benefits of Optipres Eye Drop

In Treatment of Glaucoma

Glaucoma is a group of eye conditions that damage the optic nerve, the health of which is vital for good vision. This damage is often caused by an abnormally high pressure in your eye. Glaucoma is one of the leading causes of blindness for people over the age of 60 or older. Optipres Eye Drop is used to reduce swelling and pressure inside the eye. This helps to prevent complications of glaucoma such as blindness and improves vision.

In Treatment of Ocular hypertension

Ocular hypertension is a condition where the pressure inside the eye is higher than normal eye pressure. This may occur due to an injury, certain diseases or as an adverse effect of certain medications. Optipres Eye Drop reduces the fluid accumulation of the eye and facilitates draining of the fluid from the eyes. This helps treat ocular hypertension and prevents further damage or complications such as vision changes or even vision loss.

How Optipres Eye Drop works

Optipres Eye Drop works by blocking a specific enzyme called rho kinase, which helps relax the eye's drainage system (trabecular meshwork). This relaxation allows more fluid (aqueous humor) to flow out of the eye, reducing pressure inside the eye, which is beneficial for conditions like glaucoma. Aqueous humor is a transparent, water-like fluid in the eye that bathes and nourishes the lens and maintains pressure within the eye. Essentially, it helps the eye drain better, lowering the risk of damage to the optic nerve. This helps treat glaucoma and ocular hypertension.

FAQs

What is Optipres Eye Drop used for?

Optipres Eye Drop is used to lower pressure inside the eye caused by glaucoma (high pressure that can damage the optic nerve of the eye) or ocular hypertension (high pressure in the eye). Reducing eye pressure helps prevent damage to the optic nerve and loss of vision.

When should I reach out to a doctor while using Optipres Eye Drop?

You should seek your doctor’s advice right away if you experience any new eye problems (such as injury, infection, vision loss with or without eye pain), have eye surgery, or notice any eye reactions, especially redness or eyelid issues, while using Optipres Eye Drop.

What are the serious side effects of Optipres Eye Drop?

Although the serious side effects of Optipres Eye Drop are rare, seek medical help if you notice severe eye pain, vision changes (like blurriness that doesn’t go away), and swelling or infection in or around the eyes. These could mean a serious reaction or another eye problem.

What precautions should I take while using Optipres Eye Drop?

During Optipres Eye Drop treatment, you should not drive or operate machinery right after using Optipres Eye Drop if your vision is blurry. Is Optipres Eye Drop good for glaucoma?

Yes, Optipres Eye Drop is used only to treat open-angle glaucoma (a condition where the drainage angle remains open but fluid buildup increases eye pressure), not angle-closure glaucoma (where the drainage angle becomes blocked). Both conditions are different and require tailored treatment approaches.

Can you take Optipres Eye Drop twice a day?
