Progesterone (Natural Micronized) is a progesterone (female hormone). It helps to establish and maintain pregnancy. It also prevents the increase in thickness of the endometrium (lining of the uterus) caused by estrogen.
Sofia contains micronized progesterone, which a natural female sex hormone. It is used to treat menstrual and pregnancy-related issues that are caused due to hormonal imbalance. It is also prescribed along with estrogen as a part of hormonal replacement therapy for preventing endometrial hyperplasia (thickening of the lining of the uterus).
Q. How and in what dose should I take Sofia?
For best results, take it strictly as per the advice of your doctor. The number of doses you take each day and duration will depend on the medical problem being treated. It is preferred to take it with food, usually at the same time of each day to ensure consistent levels of medicine in your body.
Q. What if I forget to take Sofia?
If you miss the dose, you should take it as soon as possible. If it is almost the time for your next dose, do not take the missed dose, instead continue the usual dosing schedule.
Q. What are the common side effects which I can experience while taking Sofia?
Most common side effects include headache, dizziness, breast tenderness, nausea, bloating, mood swings and stomach upset. Most of them are temporary, but if these persist consult your doctor.
