How Epixyl Products work
Phenylephrine + Salbutamol + Bromhexine is a combination of three medicines: Phenylephrine + Salbutamol + Bromhexine1, Phenylephrine + Salbutamol + Bromhexine2 and Phenylephrine + Salbutamol + Bromhexine3. Phenylephrine + Salbutamol + Bromhexine1 is a decongestant which narrows the small blood vessels providing relief from congestion or stuffiness in the nose. Phenylephrine + Salbutamol + Bromhexine2 is a bronchodilator. It works by relaxing the muscles in the airways and widens airways. Phenylephrine + Salbutamol + Bromhexine3 is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out.
Patient Concerns about Epixyl Products
Frequently asked questions about Epixyl Products
Frequently asked questions about Epixyl Products
Q. What is Epixyl Tablet used for?
Epixyl Tablet is used to treat a productive cough (cough with mucus) that is often accompanied by nasal congestion and difficulty breathing. It is commonly prescribed for conditions like bronchitis, the common cold, and other respiratory tract infections.
Q. Will Epixyl Tablet make me feel shaky or cause my heart to race?
Yes, salbutamol, one of the ingredients in Epixyl Tablet, can cause side effects like tremors (shakiness), restlessness, and an increased heart rate (palpitations) in some people. If you experience these side effects, and they are bothersome, you should talk to your doctor.
Q. Can I use Epixyl Tablet for a dry, hacking cough?
While this syrup contains an antihistamine that can help reduce the urge to cough, it is specifically formulated for a productive cough. The bromhexine in this medicine helps clear mucus from your lungs. If you have a dry cough without any phlegm/mucus, a different type of cough medicine (a cough suppressant) may be more appropriate.
Q. I have been told to drink more water with Epixyl Tablet. Why is that?
Drinking plenty of fluids, especially water, is very important when you have a chesty cough. The extra fluid helps the mucus-thinning ingredient, bromhexine, work more effectively by thinning out the mucus, which makes it much easier for you to clear from your chest and airways.
Q. What should I tell my doctor before I start taking Epixyl Tablet?
Before taking Epixyl Tablet, you should inform your doctor if you have a history of high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, glaucoma, or an enlarged prostate. The phenylephrine in this medicine can sometimes make these conditions worse, so your doctor will need to determine if it is safe for you.
Q. How long can I take Epixyl Tablet for?
Epixyl Tablet is intended for short-term relief of symptoms. You should not take it for more than a few days. If your cough and other symptoms persist, get worse, or are accompanied by a high fever, you should stop taking the medicine and consult your doctor.
